Want to watch your new Blu-ray Avatar on your widescreen TV via WD HD Media Player? Actually, WD TV HD Media Player promises to play just about any video format you throw at it, including AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), MPG/MPEG, VOB, MKV (h.264, x.264, AVC, MPEG1/2/4, VC-1), TS/TP/M2T (MPEG1/2/4, AVC, VC-1), MP4/MOV (MPEG4, h.264), M2TS, and WMV9. However, commercial Blu-rays have strict copy protections, especially the new released ones, so you have to use a tool to help you remove the new BD+ copy protection implemented in BD Avatar before playing the .m2ts streams in the Blu-ray disc. Haven’t yet found an available application to do so? Don’t worry, this guide will show you how to rip Blu-ray Avatar to WD TV HD Media Player supported file formats in detail.
The BD application we will use is called Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper, which is professional in decrypting Blu-ray copy protections, including AACS, BD+, and MKB V17.
Step 1: Download, install and launch Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper
As soon as you run this program, click "BD/DVD ROM", "BD/DVD Folder", or "IFO/ISO" button to load Avatar movie files.
Step 2: Select output format for WD TV HD Media Player
Click the drop-down button of "Format" to select output format. To remain the original Blu-ray quality, you can choose "Copy"> "Directly Copy". This option will ensure you get files in .m2ts format without any quality loss. Of course, the final file size will be very big as well.
If your WD media player is stuttering when playing back 1080p .m2ts movies, then we suggest you to convert the Blu-ray Avatar to other HD formats, which are able to keep HD quality and compress file size at the same time. Here I select "MKV HD Video(*.mkv)" as an example.
Step 3: Set advanced settings
You can click "Settings" button to adjust video and audio parameters to ensure the output HD quality. Changing video and audio codec, adjusting aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc. are all available in the following interface.
Step 4: Start ripping Blu-ray Avatar
Once all the above settings are completed, you can click "Convert" button to start Blu-ray ripping, and the output m2ts files or HD MKV files can be found by clicking on "Open" button. After that, you can copy these files to your USB, and plug in it to WD TV HD Media Player to enjoy on your HD TV in your home theater system.
